Our corps has an amazing opportunity to participate in the Wounded Warriors Rucksack March for Remembrance, a fundraising event to support Canadian Veterans and First Responders.
Cadets (along with family and friends who wish to join) will complete an 11 km ruck starting at Rundle Park and weaving through Edmonton’s beautiful river valley. Registration begins at 9:00 am, with the ruck stepping off shortly after.
This event is organized by Wounded Warriors Canada, but cadets will remain under the supervision of Dragoons staff throughout.

Although the unit does not currently have its own band, cadets that play a musical instrument can participate in one of the music clinics. Cadets interested in practicing with a band (military/brass band or pipe band) should let the staff know in order to get the information for one of the multi-unit band practices in the city.
The fall music clinic focuses on musical instruction as well as music level testing. Cadets must provide their own instrument.

Army cadets from Edmonton and the surrounding area will come together to participate in the Battle of Vimy Commemorative Parade on April 6. This annual event honors the bravery and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers who fought at Vimy Ridge in 1917, a defining moment in Canadian history. The parade provides army cadets with a meaningful opportunity to pay tribute, reflect on our military heritage, and demonstrate their commitment to remembrance.
Cadets are expected to wear their Ceremonial Dress (C1) and ensure their uniforms are in top condition.

The Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) is the pinnacle of our training year – a formal event where cadets proudly present their accomplishments, drill skills, and leadership growth. It’s a celebration of a year’s worth of dedication, learning, and teamwork, and a moment to recognize the achievements of our cadets and staff.
We’re excited to wrap up the year in style, and we hope to see everyone there to celebrate the incredible efforts of our cadets!

We’ll have a photo station set up after the parade where cadets can take pictures with their awards and guests. Families are welcome to take photos during the awards portion, but please avoid blocking our official Unit photographer during the Corps photo. -
Corps Photo:
Immediately following the ceremony, we’ll gather cadets, staff, parent committee members, and distinguished guests for an official Corps photo. Guests will have a few moments afterward to capture their own photos. -
Cadet Demonstrations:
Some cadets have prepared special demonstrations that will take place after the ceremony. We encourage all attendees to stay a little longer and support their efforts before assisting with clean-up.

Cadet Visit to SALH Lines
Date: January 24
Time: drop off @ 1900 | pickup @ 2100
Location: Brigadier James Curry Jefferson Armoury [11630, 109th Street]
Cadets will participate in a visit to the South Alberta Light Horse regimental lines. The SALH have a great programmed prepared for our visit!
We will be joined by cadets from 3053 army cadet corps and 3051 army cadet corps.

Standard First Aid Training
Date: February 24 & February 25
Time: drop off @ 0800* | pickup @ 1600
*Note the time change from 0900*
Location: LHQ
Cadets will participate in a course on standard first aid at the local headquarters (LHQ). Upon completion and passing the course, cadets will be first aid certified and will receive their Standard First Aid certificate.
Lunch is not provided, please remember to bring a lunch.

FTX Cold Dragoons
Date: March 16, 2024

Location: Rundle Park - Picnic Site #6
Cadets will participate in a Cold Weather field training exercise (FTX) where they will learn and put to practice winter survival skills. Cadets will also participate in snowshoeing and toboggan pulling/pushing activities, should snow conditions permit.
Cadets are to dress appropriately for the weather!

SALH Map & Compass
Date: April 17, 2024

Location: Jefferson Armoury (11630 109 St NW)
Cadets are invited to participate in a Map & Compass themed visit on April 17th. The plan consists of a classroom portion for learning map and compass orienteering, then an outdoor practical lesson.
If time permits, cadets will be given a tour of the SALH vehicles.

ADA Orienteering Day

Cadets will participate in a joint Area Discretionary Activity (ADA) Orienteering Day with cadets from 3 other cadet units. The day will consist of a beginner instruction course, and orienteering event, followed by a post-game debriefing.

Uniform Workshop
Date: June 09, 2024
Time: drop off @ 0900 | pickup @ 1600
Location: LHQ
In preparation of our ACR, we will be hosting a Uniform Workshop*.
Cadets will be:

Ironing uniforms

Polishing boots

Shaping berets

Tying ties
-
Sowing badges
Please bring an iron and ironing board and boot polishing kit and pack a lunch. At the end of the workshop, cadets are encouraged to leave the perfected uniforms at the LHQ until ACR.
Cadets will also be practicing for the ACR parade and parade positions are going to be selected.
*Note that if a cadet cannot attend for the whole day, we still strongly recommend they attend part of it.

Annual Ceremonial Review
Date: June 15, 2024
Time: Cadets drop off @ 0800 | pickup @ 1600
Location: Balwin Community Hall
Our Annual Ceremonial Review is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th and we would be honoured if you would attend. Guests are to be seated by 12:45 PM as the ceremony will start at 1:00 PM sharp. The ceremony will be held at the Balwin Community Hall (12904 74 St NW).

Following the ceremony, the cadets have prepared interactive displays for parents & guests to enjoy. The 2051 Dragoons Parents Committee will also host a BBQ for guests and cadets to enjoy.
Parents, guardians, family members, and member of the public are invited to attend to Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR). Guests are asked to be seated by 12:45 PM and follow directions from adult staff/volunteers for the location of the parade and interactive displays.
