Activity Stations

Get ready for an exciting night of holiday-themed challenges! Throughout the Reindeer Games, cadets, families, and friends can earn points for their troop in a variety of ways. The event is designed to be completely free-flowing so everyone can explore the stations at their own pace.

Here’s how points can be earned throughout the night:

🎯 7 Individual Rapid-Play Stations

Fast, fun activities where each participant earns points through accuracy, speed, or skill. Everyone who plays helps boost their troop’s score.

🏕 3 Troop-Based Creative Challenges

Large, ongoing stations where cadets and families work together to build, design, or decorate as a team. Only one troop can win each of these major point opportunities.

🧥 1 Fundraiser Station

Purchasing corps clothing not only supports the unit, but also earns points for your troop based on the amount contributed.

🍽 1 Potluck Competition

Your family’s potluck dish earns points too! Main dishes earn more points and help ensure we have a full dinner for everyone.

🏁 Final Relay Race

A high-energy troop showdown that closes the night. The first troop to complete the relay challenge earns the final big points of the event.

Below is the full list of activity stations with details so you know exactly what to expect and how you can help your troop succeed.

Jingle Bell Target Shooting

This station brings a fun, festive twist to marksmanship as participants test their precision and control using a Nerf blaster and holiday-themed targets. Cadets, families, and guests step up to the firing line and take aim at hanging bells or biathlon-style targets, racing the clock to land as many accurate hits as they can in 30 seconds

Every participant earns points for their troop, and anyone skilled (or lucky) enough to beat the station supervisor’s recorded best performance earns bonus points. Quick, exciting, and perfect for all ages, this station blends competition with safe marksmanship fundamentals.

Snowball Grenade Toss

In this fast-paced winter fieldcraft challenge, participants put their throwing accuracy to the test by lobbing “snowball grenades” into a series of targets set at increasing distances. Using foam snowballs or holiday ornaments, competitors must aim carefully as they attempt to land their throws into buckets positioned at 1, 2, and 3 metres.

Each successful hit adds to their troop’s score, with farther buckets earning more points. Simple to play and fun to watch, this station invites all ages to step up, take aim, and see just how accurate their winter “grenade” skills really are.

Christmas Wreath Display

Holiday Knot-Off

This festive fieldcraft station puts classic cadet knot skills to the test with a holiday twist. Participants race against the clock to tie three essential knots (reef knot, bowline, and figure-of-eight) around a wreath or other festive object. With a reference board available for quick reminders, this station welcomes both experienced cadets and first-time participants.

Speed and accuracy are the keys to success. Each correct knot earns points, and anyone who completes all three in under 30 seconds earns a bonus. It’s a fun, skill-building challenge that lets cadets show off their training while families and friends join in on the holiday fun.

Christmas Ornaments Display

Santa’s Supply Run

This fast-paced station brings out everyone’s inner Supply Tech as participants race to organize Santa’s scattered holiday gear. With a table full of mixed items and three clearly labeled bins, competitors have 45 seconds to sort as many objects as possible into their correct categories.

Accuracy and efficiency are the keys to earning points for their troop. Even younger participants can jump in and contribute, making this a fun, inclusive way to experience the chaos (and satisfaction) of a well-run supply operation with a festive twist.

North Pole Navigation

This station turns the building into a mini winter expedition as participants navigate their way through the North Pole Checkpoint Course. Using a simple map, competitors must locate three hidden checkpoints, stamp their card at each one, and return to the station as quickly as possible.

It’s a lighthearted introduction to map-reading and route-planning skills while keeping safety in mind with a walking-only rule indoors. The first teams to complete the course earn bonus points, but every successful checkpoint contributes to their troop’s total, making this an exciting mix of speed, strategy, and holiday adventure.

Stocking Strength Test

This festive fitness station puts participants’ endurance to the test in a simple but demanding challenge: hold a plank position for as long as possible. Competitors take their place on the mat, don a fun holiday headband if they choose, and try to maintain solid plank form while the timer counts.

Everyone earns points for participating, with bonus points awarded for hitting key time milestones. Anyone who manages to beat the supervising cadet or staff member’s recorded best performance earns even more. It’s a fun way to showcase determination, celebrate improvement, and get everyone laughing and cheering as planks start to wobble.

Candy Cane Precision Toss

In this festive precision challenge, participants test their focus and fine motor control by attempting to “hook” mini candy canes onto a decorated Christmas tree or its garland. Standing from a marked position, competitors get five careful throws to see how many candy canes they can land.

This simple yet addictive activity rewards steady aim and a disciplined tossing technique. Whether someone lands a single hook or sweeps all five, every attempt helps their troop climb the leaderboard. It’s light, fun, and surprisingly competitive, perfect for all ages and skill levels.

Christmas Cookies Display

Cookie Decorating (Troop Challenge)

This all-evening station invites cadets, families, and guests to contribute to their troop’s festive cookie display. Each troop receives a dedicated cookie tray, and participants can stop by at any point during the night to decorate a cookie in either a holiday theme or a troop-inspired design.

With icing, sprinkles, and edible markers available, this station becomes a creative hub where troops show off their imagination, pride, and teamwork through colourful (and delicious) displays. Every decorated cookie adds points to the troop’s total, and trays with strong troop representation earn bonus spirit points.

Winter Fort Build & North Pole Signal Tower – Troop Challenge

This combined station runs all evening and has two parts:

  • Winter Fort Bivouac: Troops build a fieldcraft-inspired winter camp in their marked zone.

  • North Pole Signal Tower: Each troop builds one free-standing tower focused on height, stability, and creativity.

Both builds contribute to one combined score, and only one troop will win this major team challenge. Everyone is encouraged to stop by and add to their troop’s creation.

Winter Village

Winter Fort Build – Troop Bivouac Site

This large-scale troop challenge runs throughout the night, inviting cadets, families, and guests to help construct a fully developed winter bivouac site. Each troop receives a marked square as its designated “camp zone,” and participants can drop in at any time to add shelters, walls, gear areas, fire pits, or other fieldcraft-inspired features using marshmallows, gumdrops, and toothpicks.

The goal is to design a winter fort that reflects real bivouac principles while adding a touch of festive creativity. With ongoing contributions encouraged, this station becomes a hub of teamwork and imagination. Judging begins at 8:20 PM, and only one troop will claim top honours for building the most impressive winter camp.

North Pole Signal Tower Challenge

Running alongside the Winter Fort Build, this challenge tasks each troop with constructing one free-standing Signal Tower designed to “send messages to the North Pole.” Participants can contribute to their troop’s tower at any point during the evening, making it a collaborative effort that grows and evolves over time.

Using marshmallows, gumdrops, and toothpicks, troops compete to build the tallest, most stable, and most creative tower possible. A distinctive “signal light” at the top earns a bonus point, and stability is tested with a gentle tap during judging. At 8:20 PM, building stops and the towers are evaluated. Only one troop will take home the victory for this technical and creative challenge.

Corps Clothing Fundraiser

This station gives cadets, families, and guests the chance to support the corps while showing off their Dragoons pride. Throughout the evening, visitors can browse a display of corps clothing, check sizes, and place orders for hoodies, T-shirts, sweatpants, or toques. Staff at the administration desk will help record purchases and ensure orders are connected to the correct troop.

Every order helps raise funds for cadet activities, and purchases also contribute to the troop’s score. The more your troop supports the fundraiser, the more points they earn; making this station a perfect blend of community spirit, teamwork, and corps pride.

Troop Relay Finale

The Reindeer Games conclude with a high-energy troop relay that brings everyone together for one final challenge. Each troop sends a sequence of runners who must complete a combined obstacle course featuring precision, balance, and agility. After each successful run, the troop earns a coded symbol that brings them one step closer to solving the final puzzle.

Once all symbols have been collected, the troop must work together to decode a hidden holiday-themed message and perform the required action. The first troop to complete the full challenge and arrive at the finish wins the relay.

Exciting, fast-paced, and full of suspense, this relay is the perfect finale to determine this year’s Reindeer Games champion.
