About the event

PARTICIPATION

All army cadets must participate in both their silver and gold star expeditions to complete  their mandatory training to pass their star level programs. Cadets who are unable to attend  must inform their Corps’ Commanding Officer as soon as possible.

The aim of the Silver Star Expedition is to draw together material from the topic areas of  field training, navigation and trekking with dynamic transportation (hiking / trekking,  canoeing, mountain biking) during an expedition along a linear route.  Army cadet training develops leadership skills, while enhancing individual concepts, such  as self-confidence, self-reliance, self-esteem, and self-discipline. This is done through the  use of expedition activities, as defined in CATO 40-01

Army Cadet Program Outlines. Army  cadet expeditions contribute directly to the achievement of the program aim of developing  in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership. They also contribute to the  promotion of physical fitness, and the participant outcomes of emotional and physical wellbeing, social competence, cognitive competence, and proactive citizenship.
